Oil At The Beach?

Posted on Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Uncategorized

Delaware Beaches have long been a tranquil retreat for thousands of people each and every year. Some fear that the relaxing oasis at the Delaware shores may be in jeopardy when the federal plan for an energy expedition off the coast is set in motion. Residents voice concern over the federal move to begin exploring the Mid-Atlantic off-shore waters for oil and gas production. While claims are made that drilling will be kept 50 -100 miles off the coast, locals are concerned about the boat traffic that come with this venture and its impact on the visitors that seek the tranquility off the Delaware coast. The estimated fuel source is said to have an estimated 130 million barrels of oil, while American consumption is currently 20 million barrels daily. This push has started a vocalization for the need to create clean and green wind energy sources off the coast of Delaware shores instead which will in turn employ the residents of Delaware.
